Root canal is a simple procedure that replaces the pulp, the soft inner core, inside your tooth so that you can keep your original teeth.
A root canal saves teeth so that you do not have to have it removed or risk further damage to the tooth. You will also not have to worry about the added pressure on the teeth surrounding it which could end up damaging them as well.
A root could help you if you have experienced any of these problems:
- Abscesses inside your mouth or recurring pimples on the gums.
- Pain that can range from minimal to severe. The tooth may also feel as though the pain is throbbing or hurt more when you bite down on something.
- Your dentist may have seen a problem by viewing your x-rays.
- One tooth may be darker than the other
- You may have a nerve that is exposed.
The dentist may also use further testing before doing the procedure.
How Much Does a Root Canal Cost?
Many people fear hearing the dreaded words, “root canal”, but it is a relatively simple procedure. It is nothing that you need to worry about. Most patients agree that the pain they feel before having it done is worse than the actual procedure or afterward. The reason why the pain before having a root canal done is because the tooth is badly decayed on the inside where the pulp of your tooth is and the infection can run down into the roots sparking sometimes very extreme pain. If you remove the pulp that is damaged or decayed, you will quickly discover you no longer have as much pain inside of your mouth. In some severely infected teeth, you may need two appointments to clear up the infection.
Step 1: Process starts with a free consultation, and examination by 5 star review dentist, Dr. Amit Shah. The infected tooth is numbed with a local anesthetic. Depending on a person’s level of anxiety, Dr. Amit Shah decides on a light sedative such as laughing gas, or an oral sedative.
Step 2: Once this is done, Dr. Amit Shah will drill a small hole into the tooth. The pulp and damaged nerves will be removed.
Step 3: The inside of the tooth will be cleaned and sealed with material that will not allow the tooth to become further infected.
Step 4: The final step is to put in a filling.
